As we sit here to write this letter, we are overwhelmed with excitement for this adoption journey. Most of all, we want to let you know how much we admire and honor your difficult and brave decision. We are praying for you as you go through this time in your life. We appreciate your consideration for selecting us as parents for your child and for taking the time to get to know us.
We have both always wanted to have a big family. Shortly after our wedding, we were ready to begin our family. However, after 3 years of dealing with infertility and multiple miscarriages, we decided to pursue adoption to grow our family. Adoption was something we both had always considered to be an option. Adoption certainly brings many emotions and has been a learning process for us, but we now are confident this is the right path.
We have been married for 4 years. We met in college through mutual friends and were quickly attracted to each other. We have a very loving relationship, have similar values and interests, like to make each other laugh, and enjoy doing many activities together. We also enjoy watching sports, playing golf, leading a healthy lifestyle, and traveling, including weekend getaways. Most importantly we enjoy spending time with family and friends. We both come from large extended families. While much of our family lives out of state, we often talk on the phone and travel to visit them. Also, they frequently travel to Colorado for holidays and vacations. Members of our extended family have hosted foster children which the family embraced and loved. We learned from this experience which made our choice to adopt that much easier. Over the years, we have made many close friends here locally and enjoy spending time with them on the weekends. Several of them have children, which we love to be around. We spend time going to a local lake, attending BBQs, and going to sporting events.
We live in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, in a multi-level home with a beautiful view of the mountains. Our neighborhood is very family friendly with many young families, some of whom have adopted. The surrounding area includes parks and walking trails, shops and restaurants, and an elementary school within walking distance. Tom works in sales and Erin works as a Registered Dietitian. We both enjoy our work and are well established in our careers. As we grow our family, Erin plans to stay at home with our child and possibly return to work part-time. We both were raised Catholic and are regular members at our church. We plan to raise our child in the Catholic faith and plan for a strong emphasis on education.
As mentioned, we have a great relationship with each other as well as our family and friends. We would like to keep an open relationship with you, or as much as desired. However, we respect your privacy and any decision you make.
We are blessed with our lives and have a tremendous amount of love for one another. Our next life goal is to welcome a child into our home and continue to show how much love we are capable of providing. We will continue to think about you and pray for you as you plan for the future. Know that we value your decision and wish you all the best. We are willing to help in any way needed.
