We Are Uniquely Child-Centered

  • Snowflakes was established by Nightlight Christian Adoptions in 1997.
  • It is estimated that there are well over 1.5 million embryos in frozen storage in the United States.
  • Over 2,000 families have donated their remaining embryos through Snowflakes–sometimes referred to as leftover embryos or unused embryos–allowing them to choose the adoptive family of their embryos.
  • More than 120 babies are expected to be born through the program in 2024, making a total number of over 1,300 Snowflakes Babies born!
  • Embryo adoption is a low-cost adoption option, allowing you to experience pregnancy and give birth to your adopted child.
  • Snowflakes has no waiting lists for adoptive families to be matched with embryos.

Snowflakes Referral Fertility Clinics

Snowflakes has relationships with a specific set of fertility clinics located throughout the U.S. where you can schedule your frozen embryo transfer (FET). By working with a fertility clinic within Snowflakes referral network, you will move more quickly through the embryo adoption process.

Snowflakes referral clinics ensure our adopting families with a safe, experienced, and friendly clinic as a critical part of your embryo adoption experience.

To learn more about which fertility clinics are within our referral network, contact Wisline, one of our Snowflakes Adopting Inquiry Specialists.

Matching is done with the best interests of the children in mind.

  • Snowflakes allows the embryo donors to gift all of their remaining embryos to one adoptive family. This enables genetic siblings to live and thrive in fewer families, and in families where their existence is known.
  • Contact and communication is available for potential future medical emergencies.
  • Fertility clinic donation programs will frequently anonymously divide a genetic sibling donation of embryos among multiple recipient patients. No information about the birth of resulting children is provided.
  • The Snowflakes Program charges no additional fees for keeping embryo sibling groups together.

Snowflakes follow the best practices of adoption because embryo adoption results in the birth of a baby who is not genetically related to their parents. Our experience has compelled us to follow the traditional methods we know would be in the best interests of the child, the embryo donors, and the adopting parents.

Education and counseling is the cornerstone of any adoption. With a commitment to working with families of many different spiritual and ethnic backgrounds, Nightlight and Snowflakes are well equipped to offer many viable alternatives to people wanting to provide a loving home to children.

The Snowflakes Program is divided into four phases:

1. Application
2. Matching
3. Contracts
4. Shipping
