Dear Birth Mother,

Hello! We are Nick and Lesley and we are so thankful that you would consider us as adoptive parents for your child. Though we cannot begin to know all that you may be going through, we appreciate the tremendous love and courage it takes for you to consider adoption. We hope that sharing with you how excited we are to provide a safe, loving and supportive home for your child will help you with your decision. We are honored to be a part of this incredibly personal decision and we are excited about the prospect of extending our family through adoption. We welcome an open adoption because we believe a child can always make room in their heart for more people who love them to be a part of their life.

We both came to Lexington from other parts of the state to attend the University of Kentucky. We met midway through our college experience, were married just as we graduated and have now been married for more than 8 years. We very much enjoy living in Lexington where we have settled into a beautiful home in a safe neighborhood that gives us access to parks, playgrounds and bike trails. We have a growing network of friends who live close by and already have infants or young children (instant playmates!). Our parents are both a short drive away and are anxiously awaiting a new addition to our family. We are active members of our christian church where we often volunteer our time. We also enjoy traveling to fun new places, watching movies, playing volleyball and attending UK basketball and volleyball games. Go Big Blue!

us on vacationWe are excited about growing our family! The journey that has led us to consider adoption is not motivated by our inability to have our own children. Instead, we have decided to pursue adoption as our first choice. Several life experiences have helped us discover that we have open hearts and an open home that will happily welcome an adopted child. We are unsure how many children we want to bring into our family. At this point we are focusing on the first one.

We are in awe of your compassion and courage. The gift of adoption is an act of profound love and selflessness. We promise that your baby will be loved, protected, celebrated and will be surrounded by family, friends and a community who will always celebrate them and love them unconditionally. We will always let them know that you are a mother who chose to place your child’s needs above those of your own.

Sincerely,

Nick & Lesley

Interests and hobbies: We put a lot of emphasis on taking at least one trip to somewhere fun each year. Lately, we have been using our time off to visit tropical places with good beaches. In the future, maybe these trips will be to fun theme parks or other places that are fun for little ones (and hopefully adults too!). While we are at home, we spend one or two weekends a month volunteering at church where we help with the service by helping to run the audio and video equipment. We enjoy watching and playing sports. We play volleyball and attend UK volleyball and basketball games. We haven’t been in a long time but we would like to catch a UK football game every now and then.

Home: We live in a two story home on a quiet side street in a nice neighborhood where kids are often playing outside. Our house backs up to a green space which will provide lots of room to run and play. There is a playground within walking distance and several parks within a short driving distance.

Pets: We have two cats. Omar thinks he’s a dog — he “growls” when people ring the doorbell, sets up guard in the hallway at night, and plays fetch. Wolfgang is a bit of a diva and seems to believe he’s permitting us to live in his house instead of the other way around.

Finances: We are blessed to be financially stable.

Why are you interested in building your family through adoption? First and foremost, we understand the importance of investing in the next generation. We have a growing desire to start a family and through exploring that, we have discovered our hearts are open to an adopted child. Given that there are a limited number of households open to adoption, we feel led to grow our family in that manner.

Openness to birthparent(s): We are willing to be fully open to birthparents while always considering what we feel is best for the child.

Childcare plans: Lesley’s work has a new on-site daycare with a custom facility, very low child-to caregiver ratios and outstanding STEM curriculum. We plan to take advantage of this great offering.
