Our names are Kyle and Melissa. As you know, we are hoping to add a child to our family through the miracle of adoption. As a couple that tried unsuccessfully to overcome infertility, we came to realize that infertility was a gift when we adopted our son Brandon in 2006. These past 9 years have brought more laughs, love and joy than we could have ever imagined. It is our dream to have one more child through adoption.
So what is it like to be a member of our family? Well, if a little boy sporting his Titans jersey proudly while making up a blues tune on his harmonica whenever crossing the Mississippi paints a picture you find funny but sweet, we may be the right family for your child. Our son Brandon holds his Tennessee roots close to his heart even though we no longer live there. He knows his own adoption story well and is one amazing kid!
While we know what it is like to be adoptive parents, we cannot pretend to truly know what it is like to be the birth parent deciding whether adoption is the right choice. We can tell you that we love being Brandon’s parents more than anything, and that we look forward to a chance to add one more child to our family.
We can also say without hesitation that we have a huge amount of respect and admiration for you and the care with which you are planning for your child. Your love, courage and selflessness are obvious given that you are looking at all of your options, in order to make the best decision for your child.
We hope by looking at our photos and learning about our lives you will find comfort in knowing how much we would treasure and love your child and do our best for him or her.

Children: We have one son, Brandon, who was born in 2005 and was adopted. He is 4’1″ tall with blonde hair and blue eyes with a great personality. He loves to tell jokes and do silly dances to make everyone laugh. He is an excellent student who has a passion for math and science, and he is one of the most caring, kind children I’ve ever known. He is also incredibly active; he eats and breathes sports! He plays on his school basketball and baseball teams, plus plays in a recreational soccer league.
Interest and Hobbies: Our family has several common interests including animal welfare, training and walking our dogs, playing board games, playing Frisbee golf, watching sports events, going to the movies, visiting museums and attractions like zoos and parks, and reading (especially fiction). Brandon and Kyle also like to play video games together. Brandon’s other interests including collecting football cards and coins, playing sports (which Kyle often coaches), playing with Lego’s, and drawing. Kyle is a writer in his spare time, and also works in regular time at the gym or running. Melissa enjoys going shopping and trying out new recipes, which Brandon sometimes helps with.
Home: Our historic 1930’s home sits in a historic neighborhood that is on the National Register. It is a beautiful, diverse neighborhood with lots of old houses that has some beautiful churches and schools in walking distance, plus a few restaurants on the outskirts, along with a park and even a museum. Our house has 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, with old wood floors, tall ceilings, and lots of charm. We have a fenced in backyard with a small basketball court that we recently added.
Pets: We have two dogs and a few fish. Our Golden Retriever mix came from a local no-kill shelter. Our other dog is a Cavalier King Charles spaniel who tries to talk like a person all the time! Both dogs love to go on walks and to be petted and hugged on.
Finances: Both of us work full-time for an Information Technology and communications company, where they are both project managers. Our jobs are full-time, salaried positions which are very stable. The company itself is a growing, Fortune 100 company in this exciting industry.
Why are you interested in building a family though adoption: When we were not able to have children of our own, we began exploring the opportunity to grow our family through adoption. Brandon came into our lives when he was just 7 months old. It is amazing how quickly the years have passed with Brandon, and we are thankful every day that his mother wanted us to parent him. We are hoping that we can add another child to our little family because we love being parents and being able to watch Brandon grow up into such an amazing person. To be able to add one more to our family would be such a blessing.
Openness to Birth parents: We do not want to assume we understand what a Birth parent is going through. We are open to working out regular communications that make sense to her and/or him – whether that is setting up a regular visit of some sort or staying in touch through letters and photos. We firmly believe that each Birth parent’s needs and desires are unique and are open to discussing openly with the Birth parent a plan that will make sense for them.
Childcare Plans: Given that we both work full-time, we plan to use a local daycare. There are several terrific day-cares in our area, and our Company is looking into adding one to the building which would be ideal. We usually pick up our son Brandon directly from school about three times a week and work the rest of the day from home. On the other days, he attends an after-school program until about 5:15 pm. If we adopt an infant, we will use vacation time the first few weeks, then work from home for a few weeks prior to using a daycare.
