As a high school teacher, I read essay after essay; some good though most need a little help discovering the topic. But I can’t imagine reading letter after letter, trying to discover the perfect parents. What should they look like, how should they dress, what beliefs should hold, what kind of car do they drive, etc. Too many questions and even more answers. Let me tell you about us – first, we are not perfect. We gave up on perfect a long time ago, instead we strive to make our family a happy one. I’m a teacher so I wear “teacher clothes” and Eric is a coach so he gets to wear sweatshirts and shorts (I’m so jealous). Eric drives a truck and I drive a “grocery-getter.” I guess you could say I’m the grown-up and Eric gets to have all the fun! In his defense, he’s the funny one of the two of us. We are both in the “service industry”—we serve others with the hopes of making a positive impact.
As for our beliefs: we think you are amazing! In a world that seems to be spiraling out of control, you have chosen to rise above the selfishness and show a generous act of love. We will never truly understand the magnitude of heartache this may have on you, but we can promise that we will love and care unconditionally for your precious gift to our family. We never really know how our life journeys will twist and turn; all we can do is take what comes our way and make the best of every situation. Eric and I are so blessed and pleased that our journey has led us to you. We truly believe God has a purpose for everyone and no matter the size or complicity of that purpose, all are equally important.
Eric and I met, fell in love, got married and had a miracle. Our daughter, McKinley, is seven now and is ready to be a big sister. When she was three years old we thought she would soon become a big sister however life and God intervened. Instead, our life path was derailed by a car accident. So much has changed, some bad but more good than most people can understand. After all, it brought us to you!
We are so excited that our journey has intersected with yours; surely this is perfect. Perhaps this will be the last letter you read! Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents.

Children: One seven year old daughter, McKinley
Interest and Hobbies: Eric and I enjoy experiencing life, whether that is trying a new restaurant or snorkeling in the Caribbean. At home we enjoy a crisp evening lounging in the backyard. Eric is a sports junkie and Sheri loves jigsaw puzzles. The world is full of opportunity, beautiful sites, great food and wonderful people – we like getting at there to experience it.
Home: Construction finished on our house in mid December. Today we are loving our three bedroom house that sits on two acres in a rural setting with a goat farm bordering our property. Our third bedroom is eagerly awaiting decoration plans for a nursery.
Pets: We have two beagles, Jackson, who is a four year old male and Lucy, a one year old pocket beagle. Both are excellent with our daughter, very patient and loving. We think of them as part of the family.
Finances: We are financially secure and planning for the future. We are very conscious of our finances and live within our means.
Why are you interested in building a family though adoption: In 2009, we experienced a life changing event. Our family, McKinley included, was in a horrific car accident that forever changed the course of our lives. We wanted to have more children, but due to the severity of injuries sustained and the recovery time involved, we decided that adoption was best for our family. As a college coach, Eric has had to move from job to job. Now that we are in our forever home, we are ready to complete our family with our adoptive child.
Openness to Birth parents: We look forward to establishing a relationship with birthparents and are open to sharing mementos as the child learns and grows!
Childcare Plans: Luckily we have family near and fairly flexible schedules. Both Eric and I will take time from work to care for the infant. Later we will rely upon a daycare and family to care for the child while Eric and I are at work.
Type of child we wish to adopt: We are excited to bring a baby home, boy or girl!
Statement of Faith: God has bestowed countless blessing upon our family and we are grateful for His unconditional love. We lean upon Him for guidance and work to glorify His name. We have prayed and meditated upon the issue of adoption; we feel confident that we are following His plan and are excited to watch His plan unfold.
