Dear Birth Mother,family_pic_2014

There’s so much to say! Where do we begin? First, we realize this must be the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make. We want you to know we already feel love and compassion for you. We want to thank you for considering an adoption plan.

We are Chris and Shannon, an easy-going San Diego couple in our mid to late thirties, thrilled to expand our family with another child. We met more than seven years ago through mutual friends. We dated for one year and Chris proposed at the countdown on New Year’s Eve. We were engaged for a year and a half before getting married at Shannon’s childhood church. Chris’ dad played the music for our wedding reception. We had about 150 guests and it was a very memorable event.

Our family began with adoption. After struggling with infertility issues for more than 2 years, we decided to form our family a different way and pursue adoption. Noah joined our family through the miracle of adoption in 2011 when he was only a few days old. We honored the birth mother’s wish to keep the adoption closed, but we would be happy with any form of contact that may develop. We will tell Noah everything we know about his birth parents and the love they have for him. We respect their decision to place him for adoption. Now that Noah’s getting older, we want to welcome a new baby into our hearts and home as the newest addition to our family.

Chris grew up in Montana with his mom and younger brother, Tony. Although his parents divorced, they still maintain a friendly relationship. Chris’ dad remarried and now he has an additional two half-sisters and one half-brother. Chris graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He currently works as a senior cost manager for a construction management company. Chris likes playing golf, softball, and watching sports. He also enjoys reading science fiction books.

Shannon is a San Diego native who grew up with her mom, dad and younger brother, Torry. Shannon graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She currently works part time for a healthcare staffing company as an education coordinator. Shannon’s hobbies include photography, making jewelry and doing interior design projects around the house. She also likes reading historical fiction books.

Noah is a very happy toddler, full of smiles. He loves playing outside and exploring the world. He enjoys puzzles, sports and games. He likes to help us with every day activities. Noah will make an excellent big brother. He has a loving heart and a smile that’s contagious. He’s social and likes being surrounded by family and little friends.

We live in a modern, four bedroom home with a beautifully landscaped backyard in Carlsbad, CA. Our neighborhood is safe and family friendly. Children play in the yards and people walk their dogs every day. The neighborhood hosts holiday parties, like Easter egg hunts and Halloween parades. We also have access to a playground and pool right down the street.

As a family we love doing things around San Diego like going to the zoo, baseball games, football games and backyard BBQs. We get together with our friends and their kids often. We attend church at Maranatha Chapel and enjoy praise and worship music. Noah is the first grandchild of our generation, so our parents shower him with attention. They already ask us when their next grandchild will arrive so they can expand their grandparent duties. Chris’ mom has visited several times and we recently traveled to Montana to see Chris’ dad’s family. Shannon’s parents spend time with Noah at least once a week. Noah’s latest milestones are the topic of conversation at the family birthday parties and holiday celebrations and everyone is anxiously awaiting another addition to the family.

After experiencing the blessings of first-time parenthood, we feel led to start the adoption process again. Another child would bring more joy than we can even imagine. We feel our family would be complete. Thank you for taking time to read our letter. Although we don’t know your name, please know in your heart we are thinking about you every day.

God bless,

Chris & Shannon
