Hello,

Our names are Dawn and Anthony. We want to tell you first and foremost how much we admire you for deciding to place your child for adoption. It’s a very courageous act that takes a lot of love and selflessness. We know that you want your child to have the best life possible, and we want nothing more than to provide them that.

Anthony and I have been together for thirteen years and very happily married for eight. We met through a mutual friend who set us up on a blind date. It was funny really, because neither of us was in the mood to go out that night, especially with a stranger. It’s weird to think that we might have never even met. We knew almost from the beginning though that we were meant to be together. Our marriage is one based on trust, commitment, love and communication, and it is one of the greatest gifts God has ever given us. We are best friends and we look forward to the rest of our lives together.

We love to spend time with each other, even if it’s just snuggling on the couch and talking. We like to goof around and act silly and just make each other laugh. Some of our favorite things to do are going out to dinner and movies with friends, working on our house, taking vacations to the river, camping, and walking and playing with our dog, Bubba. Recently, we lost our other dog, Gizmo. His passing was very hard on us. He was our little boy and we loved him to pieces.

I enjoy all things creative, and love to draw, paint and write. I’m currently working on a novel that I hope to publish one day. I’m also a black belt in karate. Anthony is a “jeans and t-shirts” kind of guy. He likes tinkering with engines and anything electronic, and he enjoys riding his dirt bike. He’s also a good photographer and likes to take pictures, so you’ll be sure to get a lot of them! We both enjoy wakeboarding and working out together at the gym.

We love children and have always known that we wanted to raise a family together. I used to baby sit several children, including a little boy who was mostly deaf. I was also very active in my karate dojo where I helped teach the four and five year olds. I used to work in the nursery at church, taking care of infants and toddlers during the services, and I was the head of the Primary Church where I taught Bible stories to young children on Sunday mornings. Anthony has always been very good with children; they seem to flock to him. All of his younger cousins cling to him whenever he’s around.

The holidays are a wonderful time when we’re able to get together with our extended family. We have always had a great relationship with our relatives. My mother died nearly four years ago, and we miss her dearly. She was my best friend, and she thought of Anthony like a son. My dad comes to visit once a week. He is very supportive of our adoption decision (my parents had strongly considered it themselves when I was young) and he is very much looking forward to meeting his future grandchild. In fact, this will be the first grandchild in the family on either side, so everyone is quite eager. Anthony’s mother lives in Montana, but she and her husband come down at least once a year to visit. Whenever she’s in town, we like to cook a huge Filipino feast. Anthony’s brother and his wife have no children yet, but they are hoping to adopt someday as well. We enjoy spending time with the two them, and we go on trips to the river together every summer.

Anthony has gone back to school recently for technical classes that will further advance his career. He works as an RF Field Technician for a paging company, and he really enjoys it. I was an art major in school with a minor in English. I would like to go back at some point and finish up my degree. I have a wonderful career as an Engineering Assistant at an aerospace company. We are very financially stable and are able to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle.

Both of us work full time right now, but my boss is very supportive of our family plans and has agreed to let me work part time from home once the baby is born. Anthony does most of his work from home, and when he does go out, he is usually in the surrounding area. Between the two of us, we will be able to spend quality time with our child.

We own a three bedroom, two story home in La Mirada. It’s in a very nice area and the neighbors are very friendly. They always stop to say hello and to chat when they see us. We live just down the street from an elementary school, and there are many children of all ages in our neighborhood.

We are unable to conceive, but we have always considered adoption a wonderful, rewarding way to start a family. We have several friends who were adopted so we know what a loving and positive experience it can truly be. We believe that God lets everything happen for a reason, and we know that adoption is the plan He has chosen for us. We are both Christian and attend Knott Avenue Christian Church. We are very thankful for this opportunity God has presented us and look forward to the rewards of parenthood and to sharing our lives with a child.

We are eager to meet with you and discuss an adoption plan that will meet the needs and wishes of everyone involved. We respect your privacy and the level of contact you would like to maintain. We are open to the idea of establishing a lasting relationship with you, as we believe that staying in touch is beneficial for the child as well as the adults. We look forward to raising our child to be proud and confident, both with him or herself and the adoption plan that was chosen. Whatever you decide, we wish you much happiness and success.

Sincerely,

Dawn and Anthony
