New Uganda Ministry

Not long ago Uganda was among the most troubled nations in the world. But following the efforts of many people and organizations, it seems a new day has come for this beautiful African country. Building on the progress that others have worked so hard to accomplish, Nightlight is humbled by the opportunity God has presented us to begin ministering in Uganda.

A verse and a song go a long way in explaining what has motivated Nightlight to become more involved in orphanage ministry — this time in Uganda. Isaiah 6:8 says: "And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'" This passage is wonderfully brought to life in a song written by Diane Thiel. The song says, "If You say go, we will go; if You say wait, we will wait. If You say step out on the water, and they say it can't be done, we will fix our eyes on You and we will come."

Working in partnership with Heart of a Child Uganda, a non-governmental organization, we have helped establish a new orphanage, Tender Hearts, in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Tender Hearts is now licensed and is accepting babies and toddlers who are now receiving loving care.

There are many opportunities for you to partner with this new ministry. Through mission trips and gifts of your financial resources you can make a difference to these children who need our love and prayers. Help is needed to cover the daily expenses of running the Tender Hearts orphanage — for supplies for the babies, wages for the caregivers, utilities, food, etc. Your support will enable this ministry to succeed in helping many abandoned children. Please contact us if you would like to become a Tender Heart by supporting the orphanage with a monthly gift of $50 or more. You may also give a one-time gift or sponsor a child in need. Your gifts will enable Tender Hearts to take in more children.

Nightlight can perform adoption homestudies for residents of Colorado, South Carolina and Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Ventura counties).
