Orphan Care Summer Tours

Every year Nightlight brings children to Southern California from orphanages overseas. In past years we have brought children from Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. In 2010, we brought over children from Taiwan and Russia.

Summer 2011 Tour

Every Child Has A Name is bringing children aged 9-14 years old from the Izmail region of Ukraine to visit Southern California this summer. The children normally live in a Detsky Dom (Children's Home) in Ukraine. However, for 2 weeks in July, they will visit a California family and share their rich culture by performing traditional Ukrainian folk songs and dances at venues from Riverside to Newport Beach. On July 17th, the children will headline the performers at the Long Beach Russian Festival. The children are looking forward to swimming in the Pacific Ocean, playing soccer with their host families and of course, going to Disneyland.

This is the 17th year a tour has been brought out from a foreign orphanage and over 200 children have had this wonderful and life changing experience. Please come out and see the children perform. Sharing their heritage through the fine arts is important to them. They love seeing smiling faces in the crowd that appreciate their talent. It doesn't matter if you don't speak the same language; a smile is communication enough!

Please see the information below if you are interested in participating as a host family or to support this program in another way.

Host Family Requirements

If you would like to host a child in your home next summer, you will need either a homestudy completed by Nightlight Christian Adoptions or have begun the process by:

  1. Submitting an application to Nightlight
  2. Being fingerprinted
  3. Meeting with a Nightlight social worker

All of our host families will also need to:

  1. Attend a Host Parent Preparation Class
  2. Attend the Host Parent Orientation Meeting
  3. Be able to drive the child to performances and other tour activities
  4. Commit to having at least one parent with the child during the entire time of the tour; parents will need to alternate time away from work if both work full time.

It will cost approximately $2,000 to bring each child over (airfare, health insurance, and a portion of the chaperones' expenses). We ask that all host families help to support the financial expense of bringing a child over through fundraising efforts beforehand.

To apply to become a host parent, please download the host parent application and mail to Nightlight Christian Adoptions, 4430 E. Miraloma Avenue, Suite B, Anaheim Hills, CA 92807.
