Dear Birth Mother,

There's so much to say! Where do we begin? First, we realize this must be the most difficult decision you've ever had to make. We want you to know we already feel love and compassion for you. We want to thank you for considering an adoption plan.

We are Chris and Shannon, an easy-going San Diego couple in our thirties. We met more than six years ago through mutual friends. We dated for one year and Chris proposed at the countdown on New Year's Eve. We were engaged for about a year and a half before getting married at Shannon's childhood church. Chris' dad played the music for our wedding reception. We had about 150 guests and it was a very special event.

Chris grew up in Montana with his mom and younger brother, Tony. Although his parents divorced, they still maintain a friendly relationship. Chris' dad remarried and now he has an additional two half-sisters and one half-brother. Chris graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He currently works for Cumming LLC as a construction cost manager. Chris likes playing golf, softball, and watching sports.

Shannon is a San Diego native who grew up with her mom, dad and younger brother, Torry. Shannon graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. She currently works for a healthcare staffing company in Del Mar. She's planning to work part time after adopting. Shannon's hobbies include making jewelry and doing interior design projects around the house.

We live in a modern style home in a nice neighborhood of San Diego. It's located near a park, library, and Miramar Lake. It's also close to Shannon's parent's house who have a large backyard.

Chris and Shannon have similar personalities and interests. We're responsible and organized. We enjoy reading, watching movies and going to sporting events. We attend church at Maranatha Chapel and enjoy praise and worship music. After struggling with unsuccessful fertility treatments for more than two years, we are looking forward to forming our family in a different way. We feel God is leading us through adoption to the special baby we're supposed to take care of and love.

We both enjoy spending time with our friends and their kids. We often have BBQs on weekends. Shannon's relatives who are in San Diego are a big part of our lives. We get together for birthday dinners and for every major holiday. This will be the first grandchild of our generation so the baby will have lots of special attention. We like cooking dinner at home, watching TV and spending quiet time with each other. We also like planning little trips each year for our anniversaries. We've been to Cabo San Lucas, Ireland, Las Vegas, Montana and Chicago. We hope to continue this tradition and start planning family trips.

We are so excited to become parents and there are many things we want to experience as a family. We want to do things around San Diego like go to the zoo, beach, and Sea World. We want to schedule play dates with our friends' kids. It will be fun to plan holidays and create family memories. There will probably be plenty of sleep over's at my parents' house. We envision eating dinner as a family and saying prayers before dinner and bed. We're ready for the roller coaster ride of parenthood!

Why are you interested in building a family though adoption: After struggling with unsuccessful fertility treatments for more than two years, we are looking forward to forming our family in a different way. We have friends who adopted and decided to start the process ourselves.

Openness to Birth parents: We hope to have a positive, open relationship with the birthfamily. We are happy to send pictures, letters and have visits 1-2 times a year.

Childcare Plans: Shannon plans to return to work part time and to use day care part time.

Statement of Faith: We are both Christians and attend Maranatha Chapel. We feel God is guiding us through this journey.
